| R&D and Metrology The difference by two strategic directions Research and Development
Asides a permanent standard product development activity, TMI-Orion develops customized products. An expertise in the most advanced technologies gives to the R&D team the possibility to work on projects in the following fields:
High temperature electronic sytems: Design of analog and digital electronic systems, Data acquisition systems, Wireless data transmission Large temperature range radio transmission. | Computer science: Expertise in many languages such VB.net, C#, C++ .....allowing - in house development of TMI-Orion softwares - interfacing with industrial systems under Windows - design of customized applications | Heat transfer: Thermal shield development for delaying heat transfer to the logger. Use in steam, vacuum, dry environments... | Industrial processes : Extended knowledge of the industrial processes gives the R&D team with the ability to adapt their design to the specific customer needs. Many original applications have been developped in industrial sectors such as food, hospitals, mechanical, military etc ...

Metrology
The metrology laboratory The lab calibrates data loggers during their manufacturing process. Customers are invited to have their loggers calibrated or adjusted periodically or exceptionally. TMI-Orion has developped the means and skill to carry out metrology operations for temperature, pressure and relative humidity. | Calibration Certificates Each operation of calibration or adjustment leads to a calibration certificate that gives the data gathered during the operation. Certificates issued by TMI-Orion are in compliance with norm NF X-07-012. | Metrology equipement The set of equipment used in the lab has been selected among the most famous manufacturers. It fits the severe requirements demanded by TMI-Orion data loggers. Special tools have been designed in order to calibrate in close conditions of customer use.
| The standards The standards used to carry out the calibration operations are in compliance with the TMI-Orion Quality Management System. Those standards are linked to the national primary standards through periodic calibration performed by COFRAC or A2LA accredited organizations that are recognized in most countries by international agreements. |
TMI-Orion product specifications refer to technical terms, which are important to define. Definitions as worded in "Fundamental standards - International vocabulary of basic and general terms in metrology" NF X 07-001.
Calibration Set of operations that establish, under specified conditions, the relationship between values of quantities indicated by a measuring instrument or measuring system, or values represented by a material measure or a reference material, and the corresponding values realized by standards. Adjustment Operation of bringing a measuring instrument into a state of performance suitable for its use. Uncertainty of a measurement Parameter associated with the result of a measurement, that characterizes the dispersion of the values that could reasonably be attributed to the measurand. |
