R&D, Metrology and Manufacturing : the difference by strategic directions

Research & Development

TMI-Orion maintains a sustained effort in the development of new systems, enhancing and improving existing offerings, and the development of customized products for specific applications.

Advanced technologies to be used in the design of measurement equipment for severe industrial environment such as: flexibles probes, watertight connections at high pressure, energy supply adapted to different industrial applications, thermal transfer, use of new materials in extreme conditions (temperature, pressure), specific sensors etc ...

Expertise in the most advanced technologies enables our R&D team to work on projects in the following fields:

High temperature electronic sytems

  • Design of analog and digital electronic systems
  • Data acquisition systems
  • Wireless data transmission
  • Large temperature range radio transmission

  • In house development of TMI-Orion software
  • Interfacing with industrial systems under Windows
  • Design of customized applications

Heat transfer

Development of thermal shields to retain heat transfer to the logger. Use in steam, vacuum, dry environments...

Industrial processes

Extended knowledge of industrial needs enables our R&D team to adapt the design to specific customer needs.
Many original applications have been developped in industrial sectors such as food, hospitals, mechanical, military etc ...

TMI-Orion metrology laboratory

The lab calibrates data loggers during the manufacturing process. Customers are invited to have their loggers calibrated or adjusted periodically or exceptionally.
TMI-Orion has developped the means and skills to carry out metrology operations for temperature, pressure and relative humidity.

Calibration Certificates

Each calibration or adjustment operation generates a calibration certificate which includes the collected data. Certificates issued by TMI-Orion are in compliance with norm NF X-07-012.

Metrology equipement

The set of equipment used in the lab has been selected among the most famous manufacturers. It fits the severe requirements demanded by TMI-Orion data loggers. Special tools have been designed in order to calibrate in close to customer use conditions.

The standards

The standards used to carry out the calibration operations are in compliance with the TMI-Orion Quality Management System.
Those standards are linked to the national primary standards through periodic calibration performed by COFRAC or A2LA accredited organizations that are recognized in most countries by international agreements.

TMI-Orion product specifications refer to technical terms, which are important to define.

Definitions as worded in "Fundamental standards - International vocabulary of basic and general terms in metrology" NF X 07-001.

Set of operations that establish, under specified conditions, the relationship between values of quantities indicated by a measuring instrument or measuring system, or values represented by a material measure or a reference material, and the corresponding values realized by standards.

Operation of bringing a measuring instrument into a state of performance suitable for its use.

Uncertainty of measurement

Parameter associated with the result of a measurement, that characterizes the dispersion of the values that could reasonably be attributed to the measurand.
